PDF Viewer by PSPDFKit: Update mit kleineren Neuerungen und Behebung zahlreicher Fehler

Den PDF Viewer haben wir Euch schon einmal vorgestellt, dabei handelt es sich nicht nur um einen Betrachter, sondern auch um einen Editor für PDFs. Als Vorzeigeprojekt für das PSPDFKit-Framework gedacht, kommt die App mit großem Funktionsumfang kostenlos daher. Die Entwickler erhoffen sich dafür Feedback der Nutzer, das sie dann in das Framework einfließen lassen können, um andere Produkte zu verbessern.

Offenbar hat man zahlreich Feedback gesammelt, denn es steht ein Update mit einem umfangreichen Changelog bereit. Neue Funktionen sind aber eher spärlich. So gibt es neben verschiedenen UI-Verbeserungen auch einen „Blend Mode“, der es einfach macht, markierten Text zu lesen. Verbessert wurde auch die Unterstützung für JavaScript in PDFs. Und die Einstellungen wurden angepasst, sodass man einzelne Optionen nun leichter finden sollte.

Darüber hinaus gibt es aber auch viele kleine Änderungen, deshalb an dieser Stelle einfach das Changelog:

* Adds blend modes to the annotation inspector. The ink highlighter by default now uses a multiply blend mode, improving content legibility, most notably with black text.
* Improves comment author display to accommodate longer author names.
* Improves the settings UI.
* Improves button layout on the signature view.
* Improves state restoration to restore and persist selected annotations.
* Improves support for Dynamic Type, particularly for larger accessibility sizes.
* Improves the layout of the stamps grid, to always look reasonably dense, while keeping the stamps big enough to read.
* Improves JavaScript support, including form formatting, calculation, and validation.
* Improves rendering behavior for stamp annotations. Stamps are keeping their aspect ratio on resizing now.
* Improves CPU utilization and reduced battery usage with better render cancellation.
* Reintroduces and improves the edge tap gesture. It now allows fast tapping through a document.
* The home indicator on iPhone X is now automatically hidden when the user interface is not visible.
* Changes the default state of the Store Signature checkbox to be disabled to not store the created signature without users explicitly checking it.
* Makes the custom stamp option in the stamps UI more apparent.
* Moves ‚Saved Annotations‘ to its own annotation toolbar item, as opposed to being a tab on the stamps UI.
* Sharing now only includes the document, not the title as well. This fixes a Text File being created alongside the PDF when exporting files.
* Fixes support for the doNotScroll property for form fields.
* Fixes an issue where the the „Add File“ screen could not be displayed when opening an external file via the „Copy to PDF Viewer option“ in some cases.
* Fixes full-text indexing explanation text being incorrectly placed at times.
* Fixes an issue where documents would not open after tapping on any toolbar button and a document at the same time.
* Fixes a crash in that could occur when selecting text if the initial selection did not contain any valid characters.
* Fixes a document’s table of contents‘ colors not being shown correctly.
* Fixes a rare issue that could lead to a crash when rotating rapidly.
* Fixes an issue where embedded videos with autoplay enabled would start playing before their page was visible.
* Fixes an issue where the printing UI wouldn’t prevent interactions with the rest of the application, breaking the printing flow.
* Fixes issues with pages not being displayed in page curl mode.
* Fixes layout of saved annotations and stamps UI on iPhone X.
* Fixes a crash which occurred when manually searching a protected document.
* Fixes a potential app freeze during document cache invalidation.
* Fixes an issue where newly created note annotations would require two taps for deselection.

Die App ist natürlich weiterhin kostenlos, für den Fall, dass jemand erstmalig ausprobieren möchte. Verfügbar im Apple App Store oder auch im Google Play Store (allerdings noch Version 2.3).
