I hesitate to use even upgraded versions of Chrome, since my last experience using it (first version) left my computer compromised; have they fixed the security issues beyond all doubt?

I’d tried already (not from a batch file, direct from the command line. It makes no difference.

According to Dependency Walker, there are problems with BartPE’s specific Kernel32.dll SetupAPI.dll and Mpr.dll,
that stuff is way over my head I’m afraid !

Hi Czerno,

try to run Chrome without the included Loader. Try a simple batch file with the following call:

chrome.exe -user-data-dir="\profil"

Hi Caschy ! I'm now running a flavour of BartPE Windows preexecution environment based on Win XP 5.1.2600. I downloaded Portable Chrome 0.3.154.9 to the RAMDISK; but it won't run properly - the browser UI runs but can't display web pages, including locally generated ones such as about:blank. The Windows error box says : ________________________________________________ Chrome.exe - Application Error (X) The application failed to initialize properly (0c0000142). [Ok] to terminate the app... ________________________________________________ Clicking OK does /not/ close the browser window, however, but it does not solve the initialisation problem either :=( I know BartPE is not /quite/ Windows XP, so maybe it's missing some required DLLs or MSI installer (is this needed here?). If by chance you or someone might look into this initialisation problem and find a way to fix this ? It would be great indeed ! Many Thanks for the Portable anyway ! -- Czerno

bei mir nicht, die heruntergelandene portable chrome exe, hat bei mir 0 byte und es kommt die meldung ist keine win32 anwendung? das habe ich das erste mal bei dir.

@Rudi: die erste Version von Portable Chrome war scheinbar die erste weltweit und wurde nur aus diesem Blog bereits knapp 90.000 Mal heruntergeladen. Die Downloadzahlen anderer Portale (Softpedia, Heise usw.) die meine Version gespiegelt hatten, wird wahrscheinlich noch höher liegen. Selbst die Developer-Build vom 28.10 hat über 500 Downloads.

@Hanns: Wie immer: ich verändere nichts am Source – aber bei allen Versionen wird die gleiche ID genutzt

So, läuft, war ein Tippfehler in der URL – witzigerweise zeigt der Counter bereits über 400 Klicks auf den Link an – und nur ihr beiden sagt dankenswerterweise Bescheid
